5 Ways to Get the Best Out of Radishes

May 2nd, 2008 by admin

They sit left behind on relish trays. They’re often by-passed in
grocery store refrigerator shelves. Dad and Grandpa usually eat
them but later complain of belching them up. The poor radish has
gotten a bum rap. There are at least five different varieties;
but for now, the popular, red globe variety will be spotlighted.
They are a great source of vitamin C and an excellent low calorie
snack (only 12 calories in a half cup of radishes). Radishes are
root vegetables that are classified in the cabbage and mustard
family, thus their strong taste.

Most people eat them raw, with a little salt. If you’d like your
radishes to be a little crispier and a little less sharp in
taste, put them in ice water for a couple hours before you plan
to eat them. There are also a number of ways to cook them. Boil
a half inch of water, add the sliced radishes, and then cover
and simmer until tender, adding more water if necessary. Cook
five to ten minutes. To microwave, place a half pound of sliced
radishes in a microwave safe dish with 1 tablespoon of water or
broth. Cook for approximately four minutes.

If the taste of raw radishes is a little too pungent for some,
try them steamed. Their bright red skin will turn pink on steamed
radishes. The easiest way to steam them is to place whole
radishes in a vegetable steamer and cook over boiling water until
barely tender. Cook approximately eight to twelve minutes.
Another way to prepare our friend, the red radish, is to stir fry
them. Sliced radishes combine well with other vegetables and
meat in stir-fries. Don’t over cook them or they’ll become mushy.
Cook approximately three to five minutes.

As Cliff Claven would say, “It’s a little known fact that ”
radishes were first cultivated thousands of years ago in China,
then in Egypt and Greece. In Greece they were so highly regarded
that gold replicas were made. (Now that’s some serious radish
lovers!)

So the next time you walk past radishes in the grocery store or
at the market, back track a few steps and pick up a bunch or two.
Or better yet, plant some in your garden this year. Radishes
are one of the very first vegetables ready for harvest in the
spring. They will in turn, ready your soil for other veggies!
Give these little guys a chance again.

Herbs Vs. Synthetic Vitamins And Minerals

April 28th, 2008 by admin

COMPANIES do not KNOW HOW TO MAKE HERBAL FORMULAS
without BULK VITAMINS and MINERALS

There is a trend on the market mixing herbs with different ingredients also
called the ‘fillers’. Seriously, just look on the label - most Supplements
are mixed with herbs…

Why?

To make those products more attractive for you. Extra Vitamins, Minerals and
other ‘goodies’ are purchased as a bulk. So, when you read the label you
see a long list… Yes?

THE UGLY TRUTH IS OUT

Minerals are striped of from the sea-salt and from other sea vegetables.
Often, man-made synthetic Vitamins and Minerals are added to your
supplements and Health Foods. GENERIC/Synthetic Vitamins and Minerals are
inexpensive to make, just as generic drugs.

One thing those companies do not understand that HERBS should NEVER
be mixed together with isolated Vitamins and Minerals. NEVER!
Bulk products are often not fresh, different product can have a different
exp. date and the worse what can happen, when herbs are mixed with them.
Herbs are especially sensitive to air exposure so, before the final product
is ready herbs are not as potent.

Q: WHY HERBS ARE MIXED WITH OTHER INGREDIENTS?

There is only ONE answer to this question: It is not easy to make herbal
supplement that works! So, companies are adding other by-products to
increase their effectiveness.
Herbs are smart, they know what to do, and in the right hands they are
transformed into the work of ART. Herbs works best in the combination
just as gourmet dish… each ingredient is fine but together they are
unforgettable.

Now you must wonder if your formula is the work of ART too?

Let me help you to answer this burning question, and to help you to
draw your own conclusion. I assume that you like your Supplement(s)?

Q: How long you are taking them? 1 month, 6 months, 1 year or longer?

A: Quite honestly, it makes not difference what Supplement you are taking,
if you can’t feel or see results after 1 month, it is time to make decision…

Q: Why you are taking them?

A: To correct medical condition or, just to maintain your good health?

Q: Do you see and/or feel the difference between now, and before you
started taking them?

A: Good supplement should produce results before month is over - and
your blood test should confirm it.

Q: Do you want to feel better than you are feeling now?

Q: Do you believe there is nothing better than what you are taking at this time?

A: So, if you feel so good that you can’t imagine feeling any better - the answer is
clear, you should stay with your Supplement but… if you are wondering how much
better you could feel - your imagination is going to become a reality right now…

Vitamins and Minerals - Are Your Getting the Most from Your Nutritional Supplements

April 27th, 2008 by admin

Whether you eat a healthy diet or supplement your diet with nutritional supplements
such as vitamins and minerals, you might not be receiving the nutrients you think
you are getting. Why, because of a condition called malabsorption.

But what exactly is malabsorption? Very simply, it is the inability of the
intestine to absorb one or more nutrients from your diet. These nutrients includes
fat, carbohydrate, protein, vitamins, and minerals. Malabsorption is not a
disease in and of itself, but a symptom of an underlying defect in some part
of the digestive system.

Malabsorption can be caused by many things such as disease of stomach, pancreas,
liver, and intestine. However, the most common causes are congestion of the
gallbladder and clogging of surface used for absorption in the intestine due to
compaction of fecal waste. While these conditions can occur in at any age, they
are most commonly seen in older adults and seniors.

But what exactly are the causes of gallbladder congestion and compaction of
the intestine? They are almost always caused by lack of maintenance of the colon
and gallbladder. Yes, you can maintain your colon and gallbladder. How? By doing
a colon cleanse and gallbladder flush. These natural remedies are alternative
medicine to harsh laxative and gallbladder surgery and can spare you from colon
cancer and a host of other chronic diseases.

Part of the process of digestion, is the mixing of your food with bile, which
helps the body digest fats. Bile is stored in the gallbladder and is made from
cholesterol, bile salts and bilirubin. If the bile contains too much of any of
these substance, under certain conditions it will get harden into stones. Because
gallstones are just harden bile, they accumulate in the gallbladder.

Over time, the quantity of these stones increases and takes up most, if not all
the space in the gallbladder. When this happens, your gallbladder becomes so
congested that there is no place to store new bile made by the liver. Since your
body needs bile to help you digest fat and absorb nutrients such as vitamins and
minerals, gallbladder congestion results in malabsorption.

The final stage of digestion is the absorption of nutrients through the wall of
the intestine and colon. Unfortunately, for many people, the colon and small intestine
does not work efficiently, mainly due to poor diet and lack of maintenance.
Over the years, the walls of the colon and small intestine can become encrusted
with compacted waste. This clogs most of the surface area of the intestine
that is used for the absorption of nutrients. The result, depending of the degree
of encrustation, is your body’s inability to absorb vitamins, minerals and other
nutrients from your diet.

Because both gallbladder congestion and intestinal compaction are accumulative,
they are, therefore, both progressive with age. Consequently most adults will have
some kind problems absorbing nutrients - whether from foods or nutritional
supplements. These conditions progressively get worse with age until the ability to
absorb nutrients such as vitamins and minerals is almost completely lost. This is why
older people tend to be much thinner, since they can hardly absorb fats or any other
nutrients for that matter from their diet.

Malabsorption generally affects people in their fifties and older. This can be a
serious problem for people with osteoporosis and bone density disease. These
individuals usually take some form of calcium supplement or medication to help control
this health condition. But minerals, such as calcium, need other nutrients such as
vitamin D to be properly absorbed in the body. Therefore, these individuals are unable
to get the calcium they need, not only because they can’t absorb calcium, but because
they cannot absorb the support nutrients needed for its proper assimilation in their
bodies.

What does this means to you? Well depending on your degree of malabsorption, if
you take nutritional supplements like vitamin and minerals, you could be pouring
money down the drain, or should I say, down the toilet. Individuals who have done
gallbladder flush or colon cleansing, have reported starting to really experience
the benefits they expected from their vitamins and minerals supplements.

So next time you take a nutritional supplement, consider the possibility that you
may not be getting your money’s worth. If you feel like you are not, you have two
choices. You can either take more than the recommended dose in the hope of getting
close to what your body really need. Or you can boost you body ability to absorb
nutrients by getting yourself a colon cleanse as well as a gallbladder flush.
